Published in 2020 by Editora Matrescência and written by Gabriela Cano, Mommy, You Can Go! marked the beginning of a successful partnership that continues to this day. The book addresses separation anxiety, a natural stage where babies and young children feel distress when apart from their primary caregivers. Targeted at mothers of newborns and toddlers, the story gently and poetically explores emotions like guilt, sadness, and longing, offering comfort and guidance during this delicate phase.
Since the book speaks primarily to adults, I adapted my visual style to convey tenderness and emotional warmth, without losing the playful essence of my illustrations. The slow, contemplative rhythm requested by the author was supported by scenes inspired by peaceful countryside life, designed to invite reflection and calm. Each illustration was paired with rhyming verses and conceived as a piece of art to be slowly admired, evoking recognition and emotional connection between mother and child.
Through loving verses and poetic images, mother and baby learn together, in a playful and beautiful way, that separation is not the end, but a step toward reunion.
